Hi all,
I loved having Dr. Hiura as my dentist. He was the first dentist where I could really have a great conversation with while having my teeth poke and prodded.. I went to him from ages 10-18, and he was always so inspiring to talk to. When I was 11, I really wanted oreos before my appointment and so I did what any 11 yr old did: I ate oreos. I thought I could get away with it by brushing my teeth really well but of course he caught me. He examined my teeth and said, "Steph, you really are a courageous girl for eating oreos right before your dentist appointment". And so, every appointment after that, he would joke with me asking if I ate oreos before my appointment.
He was always open to listening to my thoughts, in each chapter of my life and would encourage me to dream big and work hard to make my dreams come true.
Rest in Peace, Dr. Hiura. You will continue to inspire me to give back to my community and the world.
